Home Business Tips Questions To Ask Before Starting Your Web Design

A web design is a major investment for a small business owner. It’s important to be prepared for the process so you can make sure it’s done right the first time. Before starting on your web design journey, ask yourself these questions.

1. Who is this site for?

Before you start thinking about design elements, it’s important to think about who will be using your site. The demographics and preferences of your ideal client should influence your design decisions.

  • What are they looking for in your website?
  • How will they respond to certain design choices?
  • Will my copy speak to them?

2. What Makes My Business Different?

Let’s face it. There are hundreds of people that do the same thing as you. People have a lot of choices, so to stand out, you need to focus on what makes you different than the rest. Answer these questions:

  • Why should someone pick you over the competition?
  • What do you do that the other companies don’t?
  • What is your story? Why do you do what you do?

3. Who Are Your Competitors?

Take a look at your competition. What are they doing well? What can be improved? Knowing the answers to these questions will help you achieve a design for your website that works well and is geared toward your clients. Don’t be afraid to ask for feedback, either! Ask you customers what they like or dislike in a website. The more information you can get, the better your site will be.

4. What Should Your Site Accomplish?

This may be the most important question to ask! When a person visits your site, what should be the end goal? Is it calling you on the phone? Sending you an email? Buying a product? Your site should be designed with that question in mind. Keep in kind, the end goal may be different for each page. For example, if a person is on your contact page, the goal might be for them to email you. If someone is on a product page, the goal is for them to buy.

Figuring out the answers to these questions will help you get a website that is perfect for your business. We hope you found this guide helpful!
