Mark: Hi, I’m Mark.

Barbara: And here’s another Ask A Web Designer video.
Today’s question is, “Can you make me a membership website?” And the answer is YES!
So what exactly is a membership website? Really, all membership websites do is restrict portions of the website behind a firewall. That means someone would have to be a member and login to that website in order to see certain pages of content. That’s really all membership sites do, no matter how complicated or how many products, or things they have behind that firewall, that’s how membership sites work.
So we can build those for clients. We’ve done a few membership sites in the past and they’ve all been a little bit different, but they all do that same functionality of you log into the site and you can see certain content.
Mark: Yeah, and the good thing about the way that we set it up is you can either have it where it’s free to sign up for a membership or you can have a paid membership or subscription based.
Barbara: Or even different tiers of membership. So you can have a free membership and then different tiers of subscriptions of members. So certain people if they sign up for a lower end membership, they only get certain pages, but if you sign up the VIP membership you get access to everything. We can do all of that with Woocommerce Memberships & Subscriptions. That’s usually what we use to build those sites and you can take payments or you can make it free like we said. There are tons of different options available, so if you’re looking for a membership website, we can definitely do that. It’s a great thing, especially in this day and age, to have some stuff online.
