Mark: Hi, I’m Mark.

Barbara: And I’m Barbara.

Mark: And we’re Wicky Design.

Barbara: And today, we’re going to cover a topic that we get asked a lot and that is, “Do you partner with other business owners?”

The answer is yes, we do. We tend to partner with photographers, copywriters and digital marketers a lot because they offer services that we don’t necessarily offer to our clients and it can give them a more complete package.

Mark: Yeah, and it’s good to make sure you get these partners lined up at the beginning of the project.

Barbara: Right.

Mark: You don’t want to, midway through the project say, I need a copywriter or a photographer. We want to make sure we get all of this stuff right out of the gate and we work directly with them to help give you the full package like she said.

Barbara: Exactly. And this kind of bring up a topic that we think is important and that is when you are starting a business, it is important to have partnerships, but it’s also important to have that solid foundation for you to get leads and clients yourself. So have a strong brand, a strong website design, and a way to get those leads coming in without having to rely on partnerships.

So before we really started partnering up with anyone we made sure we had that in place because if you rely on those partnerships and, god forbid, those businesses go under or something happens and the business just stops that can affect your business. So I think it’s really important to make sure you have this foundation in place before you start partnering up with other people. Once you do have that foundation in place, you can really grow those partnerships and build those connections and that’s just going to help your business grow. But if you don’t have the foundation set and you don’t have a strong brand yourself, it’s really going to be difficult to grow your business and just rely on those partnerships because like I said, that business could go under…

Mark: And they have slow periods sometimes, so you don’t want to rely on that. It should just be a small percentage of the work coming in that are referrals from your partners.

Barbara: So that was today’s question. Come back tomorrow for another video where we answer the most frequently asked questions you have for us.
