Reasons Your Site Isn’t Working

September 15, 2016

Your website is more than just an online business card. It’s a way to advertise your services, gain new customers and make money. There are many factors that go into creating a successful website. If your website isn’t working as well as you hoped it would, consider the following factors.

Your Site Is Not Mobile Friendly

Having a mobile friendly website is no longer an option. More organic search traffic comes from mobile devices than desktops now. If your site breaks on mobile, loads slow, or doesn’t have legible text, you’re losing out on a lot of business.

No Calls To Action

Your site needs to guide readers to take a specific action. If your calls to action aren’t immediately visible, people may not know what you want them to do. Entice your readers with clear call to action buttons on every page of your site.

You Don’t Focus On Content

Having a pretty website is nice, but if your content stinks, no one will care. Your message should be the focus of the website. What are you trying to sell? What services do you offer? The better you can explain, the more conversions you will get.

You’re Too Sales-y

You don’t want to come off as a sleazy salesman. If you’re selling too hard, people will see right through you. Be authentic and lean your content more towards how you can help your potential customers vs. how great your products and services are.

You Lack Social Proof

Testimonials and customers reviews establish credibility. People put a lot of trust in what other people say about you. Adding testimonials to your website and having good interactions on your social media profiles will help you establish the credibility that customers are looking for.

Your Design is Old Or Ugly

First impressions matter. The aesthetics of your website will have a lot to do with conversions. Is your home page cluttered? Do you lack good product images? Do your colors fit in with your industry? if the answer is no, consider redesigning.

Having a website is one of the most important tools for marketing a small business. If your current site is cutting it, consider the above factors and make some changes. Need help? We’d be happy to evaluate your current website.
