A website redesign is an exciting process. Your new website design will be more user friendly and better than before. We know you can’t wait to show off the new look to your customers, but there’s something important you need to think about before you relaunch.

Your content.

Reviewing your content is an important step in any website redesign and it’s one that can often get skipped. Why? Because content can be hard! In reality, content is one of the first things you should think about when redesigning your website. We understand it may be a struggle, which is why we made a list of questions to ask yourself.

DO YOU HAVE MULTIPLE TYPES OF CONTENT?

Content is more than just text. It can include product galleries, image slideshows, videos and more. When redesigning your website, think about all the different ways you can convey your message. Would an image work better than text in certain areas? Are there opportunities to add video? Do you need to add or delete text on certain pages? Think about the best way to get your message across.

IS YOUR CONTENT UP TO DATE?

It’s likely that your business has changed a bit over the years. Do the people on your staff page still work for the company? Have you expanded or changed offices? Does your headshot need updating? Make sure the content on your pages is up to date an accurate.

DO YOUR PAGES HAVE A CLEAR CALL TO ACTION?

Call to actions help direct your customers into doing a specific thing on your website and should be on every page. It may be a blurb to contact you, a form to sign up for a service, or a button that suggests a purchase. Review your pages to make sure you’re directing your customers to their next step.

ARE YOU HAPPY WITH WHAT YOU CURRENTLY HAVE?

A website redesign gives you the opportunity to really evaluate your website. You may decide to add new pages, remove ones that are no longer relevant, or completely restructure your navigation. Don’t be afraid to ask your web designer for recommendations!
