How Websites Are Like Dating

August 30, 2017

As many of us have experienced, a first date can go one of two ways. You meet someone cool and can’t wait to hang out again. Or, you meet someone that won’t stop talking about his or her greatness.

Websites are a lot like dating. You’ll either give off a good impression and maybe get a second date, or you’ll have an awkward night out and never get a call again.

What you say on your website matters. A LOT. While your body of work and awards may be impressive, people need to make sure they can trust you before taking the relationship further.

Your website is like a first date. Will people want to take the relationship further or run away?

If you’re just bragging about your work, you’ll sound a lot like that guy that can’t shut up about himself. Above anything else, your visitors want to know if you can solve their problems.

Both in dating and in business, first impressions are everything. If you aren’t giving off a good vibe on your website, people will look elsewhere. Here are some tips to ensure a solid first impression.

Be Relatable

Just like dating, people like to buy from companies they feel a connection with. Your website copy should feel relatable and share your why. Why did you start this business? What are your values? What struggles will you solve for your customer? Being relatable equals sales.

First impressions go a long way in both the dating world and the business world. Are you giving off the right vibe?
