One of the keys to building a strong brand is figuring out what makes your clients come to you instead of your competition. A lot of business owners struggle with this question, but if you’re serious about growing your business, you need to know what makes you stand out. What makes you different? What are you doing that others aren’t? How do you figure this out?
Analyze your competition
If you know what your competitors are doing, you can figure out what makes you different from them. Start by making a list of some of your competitors. Look at the products and services they offer and answer these questions.
- What are they doing that would be hard for you to do?
- Why do you think people choose them over you or another company?
Analyze Your Business
Now that you’ve analyzed your competition, it’s time to analyze your business. The products and services you offer are similar to your competitors, but they aren’t exactly the same. Ask yourself the following?
- What do I do that my competitors aren’t doing?
- Are there things my competitors do that I could be doing as well?
Promote Your Differences
Once you’ve figured out how your company stands out from the others, the next step is promoting those differences. Let your customers know how you’re different through your website, marketing materials and client testimonials.
Not only will this process help you gain customers and increase sales, but it will help define what really makes your company different than the others. Knowing what makes you different will help you build a strong brand and allow you to market to the right type of people.
